1. Castellanos swears as UNAH´s rector
Sociologist Julieta Castellanos has sworn today for a second term as president of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH). Castellanos will end her period on September 25, 2017.
2. Policemen demonstration for second day
Members of National Police protested for the second day this Wednesday, in demand of payment to the Security Minister. At least 65 policemen took the entrance to the building waiting them paid.
3. Doctors announce a strike
More than 600 doctors, employees of Health Ministry, announced a strike in the next week, urging to the authorities to pay pending salaries. According to Medical Association, Government´s debt
amounts 71 million Lempiras (USD 3,469,337.89).
4. New results of political survey
Presidential candidates Juan Orlando Hernández (National Party) and Xiomara Castro (Libre) are tied in a new political survey of CID-Gallup firm. Castro gets 29% in intention to vote and Hernández obtains 27%. The survey was made in 16 of 18 Honduran departments, with a 2.8% of
margin of error.
5. Bridge demolition for Trans450
On Wednesday, a pedestrian bridge in Centroamerica boulevard in Tegucigalpa will be demolished, informed the Mayor´s Office. Demolition will be done at night because of traffic jams at morning and afternoon. These work are part of a new public transportation system.
